Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

5 year olds

Our Leapin’ Lizards TK room has up to twenty-one students, and a full time teaching staff of three for a ratio of 1:7. The primary purpose of this program is to prepare children for Kindergarten. This class uses the Creative Curriculum as a basis for planning literacy, math, science, and social studies experiences. Social skills and listening skills are also emphasized.

The Leapin’ Lizards program also uses various activities that help children begin to develop writing skills, and monthly calendars are shared with parents to enable them to reinforce these concepts at home. There is a computer center located in the classroom with games that develop math and reading readiness, as well as problem solving skills. A weekly computer class is offered for an additional, parent paid fee. Weekly gymnastics and music classes are offered, as well as Chapel, and a monthly pre-school arts lab, and all are included in the cost of tuition.  A weekly Spanish class is also offered, involving the children in a language program that embraces literacy and diversity with developmentally appropriate activities.
